One of High Point Metropolitan Planning Organization's (HPMPO) most important responsibilities is developing and implementing a Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The MTP defines the policies, programs and projects to be implemented through 2050 in order to improve safety, manage congestion, support land use plans, and provide mobility choices in the region. The MTP addresses the goals and objectives of the HPMPO, the various components of the transportation planning process, socio-economic and financial assumptions, and transportation-related environmental and health issues.
This fiscally-constrained, multi-modal transportation plan is updated every five years to adapt to population growth, land use pattern shifts, policy changes, new federal and state legislation and guidance, and other changes affecting the region.
The 2050 MTP will analyze the transportation network to determine the region's transportation needs. Those needs will then be matched with recommended transportation projects, which will be prioritized for funding. The results will be a comprehensive blueprint for effective transportation decision-marking and investment choices.
We need your feedback!
The 2050 MTP needs YOU! We are asking community members to participate in sharing the vision and direction of the MTP. These opportunities will include digital engagement activities on this website and in-person meetings.
