Safety

Employee safety is one of the City’s primary concerns. To that end, we have produced a safety program and appointed a Safety Team, to foster safety initiatives. This project supports the City’s overall goal of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment throughout our entire organization.

Safety Initiatives

The Human Resources Director currently serves as the City’s Safety Team Chairman. This position leads the Safety Team, which is comprised of employees representing each of the five City work locations. The Safety Team meets to discuss safety concerns in the workplace, and to coordinate safety-oriented events for our staff. Examples of safety initiatives are:

  • Accident Review and Prevention
  • Fire Extinguisher Training
  • First Aid and CPR Training
  • Flu Vaccine Clinic

Holding Employees Accountable

All City of Archdale employees are held accountable for ensuring a safe work atmosphere. We expect our employees to take care in the operation of all equipment, to wear appropriate personal protective gear, and to identify and report any potential safety hazards in the workplace. These standards are in place because we value and respect the welfare of our staff.

The City also recognizes that while precautions are taken to promote a safe work environment, there are situations where accidents can occur. In such cases we have a worker’s compensation process in place to ensure any work-related conditions are addressed effectively.

When accidents do happen, they are investigated to determine their causes and whether they were preventable. Understanding the root causes of incidents and why they are happening, regardless of fault, forms the basis for eliminating them in the future.
